How can we help individuals adopt ‘Sustainable Human Behaviour’ to support the growth of all People and help them lead a life of dignity, thereby creating a culture of sustainability amongst the people?

This focuses on SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 16

 

Theme: PLANET

How can we help individuals adopt ‘Sustainable Human Behaviour’ to support the transformation and revival of the Planet / the Environment, thereby creating a culture of sustainability in the world?

This focuses on SDGs 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17

 

Category 2: Grade 9 to 12 - Young Lion

Theme: PEOPLE

How can we help individuals adopt ‘Sustainable Human Behaviour’ to support the growth of all People and help them lead a life of dignity, thereby creating a culture of sustainability amongst the people?

JOIN THE CHALLENGE

At the time of registration, all teams must make sure to provide the most innovative solutions which will help bring about behavioral change amongst people and help in creating a culture of sustainability amongst the civil society, which will thereby lead to the creation of a Sustainable New Age in India by 2030. Even if the solutions being provided are based on technology, they must help bring about behavioral change in individuals.

Registrations are open till 30th July 2023.

SOS COMPETITION REGISTRATION PROCESS

ROUND 1

How To Register - Step 1:

1. Registration will be open till 30th July 2023.

2. Students from all schools across India are eligible to register for SOS in teams for any of the above mentioned categories.

3. Teams can comprise of a minimum of two and a maximum of four students.

4. Teams can be either inter-school or intra-school.

5. Students studying between grades 6 and 12 are eligible to be a part of the teams as per the above mentioned categories.

6. Any one of the faculty or parents can be a mentor for the team, which can be decided by the team themselves, and sent through the school.

7. The role of the mentor will be to guide and facilitate the students throughout the competition process and to accompany their team on the final day of the competition.

8. All teams have to self-register on this website by filling out the registration form.

9. Team registrations will be considered valid only after the registration fee of INR 1000 has been paid.

10. After successful registration, a unique team ID will be generated, which will be shared on email with all team members and mentor attached to the team.

11. Students of all teams must also download and register themselves on the BSG for SDG mobile app to learn about the SDGs.

ROUND 1

Step 2

1. All teams are required to submit a write-up of up to 500 words as a Project Idea after their registration has been done.

2. The Unique Team ID generated in step 1 is to be used by team members for uploading the Project Idea in the given link provided on email.

3. The Project Idea can be submitted any day after the registration has been successfully completed and the Unique Team ID has been received by the team.

4. Last date for submission of the Project Idea is 8th August 2023.

5. The Project Idea should comprise of the following details:
a. What is my innovative Project Idea and its authenticity?
b. Why did I think about this idea? What is the objective, urgency and context of the idea?
c. What are the number of SDGs being addressed directly or indirectly and the idea’s expected impact?
d. Is my idea scalable and how will I measure it?
e. Will I be able to submit a business plan for my Project Idea?

SOS COMPETITION SELECTION PROCESS

Selection Process for Round 1

1. Once the Project Idea has been submitted, the SOS team will review all Project Ideas submitted.

2. The Project Ideas will be awarded a score on a scale of 1 to 5 as per the following weightage criteria:
a. Urgency and context of the idea - 30% weightage
b. Authenticity and uniqueness - 30% weightage
c. Scalability & Number of Beneficiaries - 20% weightage
d. Business Plan - 20%

3. A total of 48 teams with the highest scores will be shortlisted across the categories / themes, who will then proceed further for Round 2.

4. Shortlisted teams will be informed about their selection via email by 19th August 2023.

Round 2

1. In round 2, the shortlisted teams have to submit a video presentation of maximum 3 minutes in which the students can define in detail what their idea is about.

2. The video presentation is a pitch where the students share a detailed business plan of the Project Idea including the following details:
a. Introduction of all team members and the mentor, with their roles and responsibilities defined
b. Introduction of the idea / prototype - its authenticity and execution plan in brief
c. What is the objective, urgency and context of the idea
d. What are the number of SDGs being addressed directly or indirectly
e. The idea’s expected impact and beneficiaries (direct and indirect)
f. What are the scalability parameters for the idea
g. Any other relevant points that the team would like to highlight

3. The last date for submission of video presentations is 10th September 2023.

4. Video presentations should be submitted on the official SOS website by logging in with their Unique Team ID.

Selection Process for Round 2

1. The videos of all the 48 shortlisted teams will be reviewed and will be awarded a score on a scale of 1 to 5 as per the following weightage criteria:
a. Urgency and context of the idea - 30% weightage
b. Authenticity and uniqueness - 30% weightage
c. Scalability & Number of Beneficiaries - 20% weightage
d. Business Plan - 20%

2. From amongst these 48 teams, a total of 24 teams will be shortlisted further for final Schoolathon on Sustainability, which will be held on 7th October 2023 in Delhi NCR.

3. The information regarding the final 24 shortlisted teams will be posted on the website and communicated to the teams by 20th September 2023.

Round 3 - Final Round

1. The shortlisted 24 teams will further work on and enhance the business plan for their idea / presentation / prototype submitted for a final pitching to the jury on the day of Schoolathon on Sustainability, which will happen in person in Delhi on 7th October 2023.

2. The jury will select the best 3 business plans per category on the day of the Schoolathon.

3. Each of the winning teams will be awarded a cash prize of INR 50,000.

4. Jury decision will be final and binding.

5. All shortlisted teams have to be physically present for the Schoolathon and must make their own travel arrangements.

6. In case any of the 24 shortlisted teams is not able to attend the Schoolathon physically on the day of the competition, they must inform the SOS team latest by 25th September 2023, so that opportunity can be given to the next best team.
